About Mark -
Mark Christian Miller is a Los Angeles based vocalist who began pursuing his love for the jazz idiom when he auditioned for and won a scholarship to complete the two-year full time music program at Los Angeles City College from drummer David Alpert, brother of Herb Alpert. He was hosting an Honors Concert performance at LACC when he came to the attention of Teri Merrill-Aarons founder of the Los Angeles Jazz Society, who began booking Miller in top venues around town. Music Connection Magazine called Miller “A superior vocalist, one of LA’s finest.” Miller was selected to appear in a series of appearances with the legendary Anita O’Day at the Atlas Supper Club in Los Angeles. That same year he met Page Cavanaugh, and went on to appear with Cavanaugh numerous times and recorded his debut CD “Like Sunlight on Water” with Cavanaugh. Michael Feinstein called Miller’s work “joyful, swinging, and a pleasure to hear.” Miller released his sophomore record in 2015 with Josh Nelson on piano. “Crazy Moon” spent four months on the JazzWeek charts, and was chosen as one of the top releases of 2015 by Jazz History Online. Miller continues to work extensively in nightclubs and is a busy music booker and promoter as well. Author James Gavin calls Miller’s singing, “a pleasure to the ear – breezy, rhythmically nimble, honest and full of heart.”
